As I frightfully look around at the seemingly ever present hate of this globe, I can’t help but try to find the root; the root of Charlottesville, the transgender military ban, sexual assault, gun violence, hate speech, and white supremacy. On September 5th, President Donald Trump tweeted, “Congress, get ready to do your job – DACA!” He followed up, saying they had six months to do so. This, of course, led to a myriad of questions: What is he expecting Congress to do? What does this mean for individuals receiving DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals)? This states that it is, according to the American Psychiatric Association, “unethical for psychiatrists to give a professional opinion about public figures they have not examined in person, and from whom they have not obtained consent to discuss their mental health in public statements.”
