Here at The Campus we know that there is power in visibility for groups that are systematically unseen in social, political, and academic circles.
This issue, my staff and I hope to shine light on but a few of the powerful, mosaic, and impactful individuals a part of the LGBT+ community at this institution. I encourage you to read their words on page 12-13, it gave me goosebumps and I expect the same for you. Further, October highlights other major things happening on this campus, across CUNY, and around the world. Delving into Hispanic Heritage Month, Jaque Bautista speaks with students about what it means to be Hispanic and Latinx. Further, staff members Brahmjot Kaur, Victor Anosike, and Radhamely De Leon provide insight into CCNY’s new Undergraduate Student Government President, CUNY’s former Chancellor, and CUNY Journalism School’s new namesake, respectively.
But wait, there’s more.
While you spend your day exploring the subsequent pages, feel free to grab new food from the cafeteria and a cup of coffee from one of Harlem’s local shops- both of which are featured in this issue! On a sportier note, The Campus spoke with alumni passionate about starting a Hockey presence at CCNY- are you ready to hit the ice?
Lastly, prepare for the spookiness ahead with a halloween tale that encapsulates the fear we all face attending The City College of New York.
Well, what are you waiting for? Get reading.
Until next time,
Katie Herchenroeder
