Editor’s Note: September, 2018

Previously Published by The Campus

Hey, Hi, Hello,

My name is Katie Herchenroeder and I am thrilled to serve Harlem and The City College of New York community as this year’s Editor in Chief.

As I look around while in class or walking down Convent Avenue I see the beating heart of this institution, and I wholeheartedly believe that it is The Campus’s honor and responsibility to try its hardest to capture snapshots of that rhythm. Believe me when I say that I would write about every single person at this university if time and space permitted, for through my experience I have found that each walk at CCNY is different, complex, and worthy of an article. Going into this academic year I can not promise that everything will be written about, all stories told, nor every word delivered without fault.

What I can give is this:

I will assure that this publication is steadfast towards the truth, dedicated every step of the way to representing the voices of its readers- you. We will not grow tired of writing about people under attack in society and on this campus- people of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, women, and other disadvantaged groups. We commit to keeping our ears to the ground, eyes looking around, and doors open to whoever wishes to walk into our office.

Now, I invite you to sift through these pages to find information about Excelsior, renovations on campus, recycling, senior year, political involvement, living with an invisible illness, and quite a bit more. Throughout the next days, weeks, and months my team and I hope to see you, know you, and provide work to make your experience here a little fuller.
